Ty Wood is a seasoned artist and songwriter who believes that music's real purpose is connection. His story is one of reinvention and resilience, and what draws him back to music again and again isn't the spotlight; it's the way a song can close the distance between two strangers. He's found that if you listen closely enough to the world around you, in a crowded room or a quiet one, you start to hear the same story running through all of it. We are more alike than we are different, and music is how we remember that. That is why he writes, why he walks onto the stage in front of the crowd, and why he sings like a man who means every word.
Ty grew up with music in his bones; starting with violin at age 7, then piano, then guitar, and songs started spilling out of him before he knew what to do with them, but life had other plans first. He spent years building businesses, chasing success, and doing all the things you're "supposed" to do. Music stayed close, always. He was even commissioned to write and perform an original album for an audience of over 10,000 people, but it lived in the margins of a life that hadn't yet made room for it at the center.
That changed after his father passed away in 2021. It was the kind of loss that doesn't just break you; it remakes you, and it pushed Ty to finally put music at the center stage where it belonged. One of the first things he did was hit the road for The Write Across America Project, driving across the country with no fixed plan, knocking on doors, sitting down with strangers, and writing songs about what he found. It taught him something he carries into every room since: everyone has a story worth hearing, and music is the fastest way to hear it.
That lesson runs through his debut album, Livin' It Up: Songs from the Write Across America Project, twelve songs built from real people, places, and moments that deserved to be remembered. Rooted in soul, pop, rock, and country, the record moves between the intimate and the anthemic. Press called his vocal performance "nothing short of incendiary — playful yet impassioned in classic soul/pop style, channeling a young Michael Jackson at moments." His lyrics were praised as "a call to live without restraint." His voice was described as one that "exudes an innate confidence, brimming with life and thrill."
Ty is currently performing in a Las Vegas residency on the Strip, sharing the stage with Grammy-nominated legends The Jets in their high-energy, all-ages 80s and 90s Experience. It is a show built on the same principle as everything else Ty does: find the people, fill the room, and give everyone in it a reason to feel a little less alone.
With his second album anticipated for release in fall of 2026 and so much more on the horizon, the best of his story is still being written.
